1 Find Your Connected Apps on Facebook

Facebook keeps a list of every app and website you've used "Log in with Facebook" for. Here's how to find it:

  1. Go to Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
  2. You'll see three categories: Active, Expired, and Removed
  3. Focus on Active apps — these are currently using your Facebook login
  4. Click each app to see what permissions it has (email, friends list, etc.)
Write down or screenshot every active app. You'll add them to your checklist in the "My Apps Checklist" tab.

2 Check Your Email for Facebook Login Confirmations

Search your email inbox for clues about services linked to Facebook:

  1. Search for "connected your Facebook" or "logged in with Facebook"
  2. Search for "Facebook account" in welcome/signup emails
  3. Search for emails from facebookmail.com mentioning app connections
  4. Check for password reset emails — if a service never sent you one, you may have used Facebook login

3 Check Your Browser Saved Passwords

If a service isn't in your browser's saved passwords, you likely used a social login:

  1. Chrome: Go to chrome://password-manager/passwords
  2. Firefox: Go to about:logins
  3. Edge: Go to edge://settings/passwords
  4. Cross-reference with services you use — any missing entries likely use Facebook/Google/Apple login

4 Check Your Phone's App Permissions

Many mobile apps use Facebook login silently:

  1. iPhone: Settings → scroll to Facebook → see linked apps
  2. Android: Settings → Accounts → Facebook → Account sync
  3. Also check your phone's app list — try logging out of each app and see which ones offer "Log in with Facebook" as the primary option

5 Download Your Facebook Data

Facebook's data download includes a list of all apps that have ever accessed your data:

  1. Go to Download Your Information
  2. Select JSON format for easier parsing
  3. Under categories, select at minimum: "Apps and Websites Off of Facebook"
  4. Download and open the JSON — look in apps_and_websites_off_of_facebook/ folder
The data download reveals apps you may have forgotten about, including ones you used years ago that might still have your data.

Common Services That Use Facebook Login

Below are popular categories of apps/services that frequently rely on Facebook login. Check each one to see if you've used it, then add any matches to your checklist.

Gaming

  • Spotify — Can unlink Facebook and set a standalone password in account settings
  • Steam — Does not use Facebook login, but check linked accounts
  • Epic Games — Settings → Connections → disconnect Facebook, set email/password
  • EA / Origin — Account settings → Connected accounts
  • Mobile games (Candy Crush, Words With Friends, FarmVille) — Progress is often tied entirely to Facebook; may lose data
  • Roblox — If connected, add email+password before unlinking
Many mobile games (especially by Zynga/King) store save data exclusively through Facebook. Unlinking may mean losing your progress permanently. Check each game's settings for alternative backup options.

Shopping & Food Delivery

  • Uber / Uber Eats — Add email+password in account security settings
  • DoorDash — Account → add email login, then disconnect Facebook
  • Instacart — Account settings → add email/password
  • Wish — Profile → add email before unlinking
  • Etsy — Account settings → password → set password, then disconnect
  • Groupon — My Account → set email/password
  • Poshmark — Account settings → create password

Dating Apps

  • Tinder — Settings → add phone number or email, then unlink Facebook (may lose matches history)
  • Bumble — Can switch to phone number login in settings
  • Hinge — Now supports phone login; switch before disconnecting
  • OkCupid — Add email+password in account settings
  • Grindr — If FB-linked, add email login in settings

Music & Streaming

  • SpotifyAccount page → set password → disconnect Facebook under Social
  • SoundCloud — Settings → add email/password → disconnect
  • Deezer — Account → manage account → set email/password
  • Shazam — If synced via Facebook, data may be lost on disconnect

Social & Communication

  • Instagram — Owned by Meta; will NOT be deleted with Facebook unless you choose to. Ensure a separate password exists
  • WhatsApp — Uses phone number, not Facebook login. Your account persists independently
  • Pinterest — Settings → Account → set email/password → disconnect Facebook
  • Tumblr — Rarely uses Facebook login, but check settings if unsure
  • Discord — Settings → Connections → disconnect (Discord uses its own login)
  • Snapchat — Uses phone/email only, not Facebook login
Instagram and WhatsApp are Meta products but use separate logins. Deleting Facebook won't automatically delete these unless you choose "Delete accounts across Meta" during the deletion process.

Productivity & Work

  • Canva — Account settings → add email/password → unlink
  • Zoom — If using FB login, add email/password in profile settings
  • Asana — Profile settings → set password
  • Trello — Profile → change authentication
  • Notion — Supports email login, rarely uses Facebook

Travel & Booking

  • Airbnb — Account → Login & Security → add email/password → disconnect Facebook
  • Booking.com — Settings → add email/password
  • TripAdvisor — Account settings → create standalone login
  • Skyscanner — Profile settings → add email

Fitness & Health

  • Strava — Settings → add email/password → disconnect
  • MyFitnessPal — Account → add email login
  • Headspace — Account settings → set email/password
  • Nike Run Club — Add email login if Facebook-connected
  • Peloton — Account → set up email login

News & Reading

  • Medium — Settings → Email address → set password
  • Goodreads — Amazon-owned; may need Amazon login setup
  • Pocket — Add email/password in account settings
  • Flipboard — Profile → account → add email

Marketplace / Selling

  • Facebook Marketplace — No migration possible; listings are tied to Facebook. Screenshot/export any active listings
  • OfferUp — If FB login used, add email/password in settings
  • Depop — Add email login in account settings
  • Mercari — Profile → account info → add email
Facebook Marketplace listings, seller ratings, and buyer history cannot be migrated. If you actively sell on Marketplace, plan your transition to another platform first.

Your Migration Checklist

Add every app and service you've found that uses Facebook login. Check them off as you migrate each one.

No apps added yet. Use the "Discover Logins" tab to find your connected apps, then add them here.

    1 Download Your Facebook Data

Before deleting your account, download everything you want to keep:

    1. Go to Download Your Information
    2. Click "Download or transfer information"
    3. Select "All available information" for a complete backup
    4. Choose JSON format (machine-readable) or HTML (human-readable)
    5. Select High media quality
    6. Click Create File — Facebook will notify you when it's ready (can take hours)
Request your data well in advance. Large accounts can take 24+ hours to prepare the download.

2 What's Included in Your Download

    • Posts & Comments — All your posts, comments, and reactions
    • Photos & Videos — All media you've uploaded
    • Messages — Complete Messenger history (including deleted messages from your side)
    • Friends List — Names of all friends (save contact info separately!)
    • Events — Events you've hosted or attended
    • Groups — Groups you've joined or created
    • Marketplace — Your listing and transaction history
    • Apps & Websites — Complete list of connected services
    • Ad data — Your ad preferences, advertisers who targeted you
    • Location history — If location services were enabled

3 What Won't Be in Your Download

    • Photos/videos others tagged you in (only your uploads)
    • Others' comments on your posts (only your side)
    • Shared memories or collaborative albums
    • Facebook Pay transaction details (download separately from Pay settings)
    • Business page data (use Business Suite export separately)
If you manage any Facebook Pages or Business accounts, export those separately through Business Suite before deletion.

    4 Save Important Contacts

Facebook doesn't export friends' contact info. Before deleting:

    1. Manually save phone numbers and emails of important contacts
    2. Let close friends/family know you're leaving and share alternative contact methods
    3. Join any important group chats on alternative platforms (Signal, WhatsApp, Discord)
    4. Save links to any important Marketplace conversations or transactions

    Export Your Checklist

Save a copy of your migration checklist for reference:

    Pre-Deletion Checklist

Before deleting your account, make sure you've completed these critical steps:

    • Discovered all connected apps and services
    • Migrated all critical apps to email/password login
    • Downloaded all Facebook data
    • Saved important contacts outside Facebook
    • Transferred or exported Facebook Pages / Business data (if applicable)
    • Notified friends/family of alternative contact methods

    Deactivation vs. Deletion

    Deactivation

    • Profile hidden from others
    • Can reactivate anytime by logging in
    • Messenger still works
    • Facebook login for other apps still works
    • Data is preserved

    Deletion

    • Account permanently removed
    • 30-day grace period to cancel
    • Messenger access lost
    • All Facebook logins stop working
    • Data deleted from servers (up to 90 days)
Consider deactivating first as a trial run. This lets you test whether all your apps work without Facebook while keeping the ability to reactivate if you missed something.

How to Delete Your Facebook Account

    1. Go to facebook.com/help/delete_account
    2. Click "Delete Account"
    3. Enter your password and click Continue
    4. Click "Delete Account" to confirm
    5. You have 30 days to cancel — logging in during this period will reactivate your account
    6. After 30 days, deletion begins. Full data removal takes up to 90 days
During the 30-day grace period, do NOT log into Facebook or use Facebook login on any app — this will cancel the deletion.

    After Deletion

    • Clear Facebook cookies from your browsers to avoid accidental reactivation
    • Remove the Facebook app from your phone
    • Update any bookmarks or shortcuts
    • If you used Facebook Pixel or Meta ads for business, set up alternatives
    • Monitor your email for any services that stop working — add them to your migration list
